#teacher

I saw this SUPER cute "#boss" sign all sparkly in gold on a blog and thought it would be perfect in my classroom on my shelf. I can't resist sparkles! I love anything with glitter all over it. I found the same design on Cricut Design Space ready to make, but I didn't want it to say boss. I decided I wanted it to say #teacher. So I'm going to show you step by step how I made the layout in Cricut Design Space.

Materials Needed:

*Cricut
*Cricut mat
*Chipboard (2 pieces of 12 by 12)
*Glue
*Spray paint
*GLITTER :D

Alright so the first thing to do is to make the phrase or word in Cricut Design Space.

I picked the word "#teacher" for my project. You could do this same process with any word. First thing I did was go to dafont.com and download the font KG Always a Good Time. Seriously my personal FAVORITE. It is such a cute cursive font. I downloaded and installed the font to my computer. Once the font is installed on your computer Cricut Design space will automatically load it in the font menu.

I opened a new project. I then clicked on "add text" on the left hand side. I typed "#teacher". You can see that the default font was Cricut Alphabet.

To change the font, go over to "edit" on the right side. Click on the drop down arrow next to where it says "cricut alphabet". Find the font you would like to use. I am going to use KG Always a Good Time. I will scroll through the fonts until I find that one. Or I could start typing and it will pull it up. Now the letters will change to the font chosen.

Now I have the font I want! But the letters are SO far apart and for this project I need them all together.

I am going to move my mouse to where it says "letter spacing." Clicking on the up down arrow will allow me to bring the letters closer together.

I kept clicking that down arrow until most of my letters were over lapping. I don't like the spacing between the "#" and the letters "e" and "r". This next step will allow me to bring those last two letters closer. If you brought your letters too close then click the up arrow to bring them back apart.

I selected my text box and then right clicked and selected "ungroup". I want the letters in their own individual boxes so I can move each letter by itself.

I clicked on the "#" first. This was too small for what I wanted so I increased the size and then straightened it.

When this project is finished I want it to be able to stand on it's own so it needs to be absolutely straight. Now not all the letters are going to be straight, but if I get the majority of them straight I know it will be able to stand by itself. I clicked on "add shape" and added a square. I want to make this into a long rectangle. I clicked on the square and a little lock image appears on the bottom left of the square. I clicked this lock so it becomes unlocked. Now using the arrows located at the bottom right of the rectangle I am able to size this how I would like. I made it long enough to fit under the entire word.

Now I can start moving those individual letters down to the rectangle. I made the "#" big enough that it connects to the "t". I pulled each letter down and made sure they were all over lapping. This is an important step so when I weld the letters together all of them will be attached and it will be one piece.

As you can see in this image below all the letters are lined up straight and all of the letters are touching. I can now go ahead and delete that rectangle. I am ready to attach the letters back together. I can go ahead and click "select all" at the very top toward the right hand side. Or I can select each item while holding the command button. After they are all selected click attach on the right hand side.
Make sure you are under the "layers" tab in order to see the "attach" selection.

Now that each letter is attached together under that same "layers" tab I can select weld. It will make all my letters appear as one piece. Now I can click and resize the text. I chose to make it 10 inches wide and about 2 inches in height.

Now I am ready to cut! I wanted this text to cut out 10 times. Where it says "project copies" in the upper left hand corner I changed the number to 10 and clicked "apply". Now I have 10 "#teacher"s ready to print out. I did change my blade to the deep cut and my setting to heavy chipboard.

After that I followed the instructions on DamaskLove.com blog here -->> Click here! CUTEST idea ever!!! Seriously thanks to Damask Love and Cricut for the idea and instructions!

Oh my gosh I seriously just think this is the cutest shelf/desk accessory every!!!

Have fun making your very own!
