First Project! First Grade T-shirt

10:10:00 AM

I finally upgraded my Cricut machine!! I have been SOO excited to get this new Cricut after reading many different blogs discussing the advantages of having the Cricut explore air. First of all, the Cricut design software is laid out fairly easily to navigate. It only took a couple "how to" YouTube videos to know how to do something and then I was on a roll with creating some fun projects!

My first project I decided to make was a t-shirt. I am a first grade teacher and love my little kiddos. So i decided to make a simple t-shirt design to wear on casual Friday. I used a simple heart I made in PowerPoint using the shapes tool and then uploaded the image into Cricut design. I then uploaded the text as an image, which I also typed up in powerpoint. I did not need to do this step. I could have done it straight in the Cricut software, but I knew how I wanted my font to be laid out across the heart. I also am a lot more familiar with PowerPoint so it was a lot faster for me to do it this way. I saved the heart and the text as two separate images and then uploaded each one into the Cricut Design Space. I used the gold iron-on Cricut material and placed that on my mat. I didn't worry about any extra hanging off. Then it was as simple as sizing the heart and text to my liking, then clicking attach, and finally hitting print! It was that easy!!

After I peeled off the part of the glitter iron-on that was not going on my t-shirt, I warmed up my iron, placed the heart cut out with the clear transfer side towards me, and spent the next couple minutes ironing away! I peeled off that clear transfer and I was DONE!!

It took me about half an hour from start to finish. I had my very own personalized t-shirt in 30 minutes! I think it turned out pretty dang cute! I LOVE the gold glitter!!

Now ignore the unmade bed in the background! I was too anxious to stop and make my bed before snapping a picture! If you're a teacher or are in need of a cute teacher gift click here for the digital download file (link coming VERY soon). This file will also include the text for kinder, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th!

Curious of the font? It's KG Always A Good Time. I am in LOVE with Kimberly Geswein fonts. They can be downloaded at dafont.com.

*Next project: T-shirts for DISNEYLAND!
